Healthcare Facilities in Erode

In most of the Indian cities, the Government health infrastructure is quite good. Erode, being the district headquarters as well as one of the most important trading places of Tamil Nadu, has a very good health system. There are a number of government hospitals in the city which are capable to tackle most diseases in fair price. The activities of the Health Department is closely monitored by the Joint Director of Health Services, Tamil Nadu and the Deputy Director of Health Services, Tamil Nadu. In Erode, many people get health benefits from the E.S.I. Scheme and there are two E.S.I. dispensaries in the place.  There are two maternity centers are in Gandhiji Road and Cauvery Road . All the different public health activities are guided and supervised by the separate health officers in these taluks and they are monitored by the District Health Officers and the Joint Director of Medical and Health. In Perundurai, there is a medical college and the college is run by the Road Transport Corporation of the Tamil Nadu Government. As per the recent statistics, there are a total of 74 primary healthcare centers spread across the district of Erode and all of them are directly controlled by the District Health Officer. The District Health Officer controls a total of 277 primary health sub-centers in Erode. All these centers are well monitored and have been providing support to the suffering people of the district.

For Erode city, the Municipal Health Officer (of Sanitary Officer) is in the charge of the Health Section. Apart from the different medical aspects of health services, the officer is bestowed with additional responsibilities like preventing any and every kind of food adulteration, conservation work, regular cleaning and sweeping of streets, controlling different types of epidemic diseases, keeping track of birth and death registration and providing birth and death certificates etc. In Erode municipality, posts like sanitary supervisor, sanitary inspector and other different sanitary workers are created to help the Municipal Health Officer to complete his responsibilities properly.

Apart from the taluk hospitals, most of the urban local bodies in the district have maternity and child health centers in them. In Erode Corporation, there are three different maternity homes and two Urban Health Posts and two ayurvedic dispensaries which are operational. For every health center, there are adequate amount of staffs, likes medical officers, doctors, maternity assistants and maternity ayahs to help the patients and the patient party. Apart from the Government institutions there are a number of private medical institutions and nursing homes in Erode and they do provide quality healthcare for the patients.
