Anamalai Hills

The Anamalai Hills are in Coimbatore district. It is a portion of the Western Ghats and the Anaimudi mountain of this range is the highest mountain in South India. The summits of this mountain range are at an altitude of about 8000 ft. Anaimudi has an altitude of 8850 ft. Teak and other valuable trees grow in the lower slopes of these hills. The only inhabitants here are tribal people whose occupation is hunting as well as collection of forest produce. The places to be visited at Anaimalai Hills include Aliyar, Amaravati Crocodile breeding centre, Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary, Monkey falls, Attakatti, Mirar, Chinnar and Manjampatty.

Yelagiri Hills

Yelagiri Hills is one of the popular hill stations in Tamilnadu.  Throughout the year this place has a salubrious climate. There are 14 hairpin bends on the ghat road to Yelagiri hill top. Throughout the trip we enjoyed the panoramic views of the mountain slopes and the green forests. At Yelagiri there are about 14 villages. The inhabitants are tribal people and we found them engaged in agriculture, horticulture and forestry.
